The Tampa Electric Big Bend power plant is located in Apollo Beach, Florida. It uses Tampa Electric's Big Bend Generating Station to produce 1700MW of power, and has 3 separators on site.
It opened in February, 2008 with 15 employees, and will use a Carbon Return System to send Ecotherm to cement kilns in the area (Brooksville, Newberry FL and others)
Interesting Fact: TECO offers a Manatee viewing center, and the Sandhill Crane, a threatened species, also makes its home nearby. Visit the TECO page for more about the Manatee viewing area.
Interesting Fact: It takes about 1MW to service 1000 homes, so TECO Big Bend can service over 1 million homes (but of course there are industrial plants and commercial buildings that use us well!).
